Keynote Speaker

KATHY PATRICK

Kathy is the founder of “Beauty and the Book” located in Jefferson Texas and also the “Pulpwood Queens” book club which extends across the country with 265 Chapters thus far, and the numbers keep growing.  The Pulpwood Queens of East Texas were born March 2000 with the motto, "where tiaras are mandatory and reading good books is the rule."

Cathy is the Author of The Pulpwood Queens' Tiara-Wearing, Book-Sharing Guide to Life, the official book of the Pulpwood Queens, and has gotten National attention for the fact that she has the only combination beauty shop/ bookstore in the country, possibly the world.  It started out as a small group of ladies who enjoyed reading and now it has grown into several thousand members.  Kathy is an exciting and inspirational speaker.  She became an overnight success with her unique idea of her business and it has escalated into something greater than she ever imagined.

The Pulpwood Queens of East Texas partnered with our local Rotary Club to help start the Dolly Pardon Imagination Library literacy project here in Marion County. Now for every child born in my county, a book is sent every month free to that child until they start kindergarten. That is 60 books, a library free to get them reading ready for school.

In one interview, Kathy concluded by saying “Won’t you all join me on this wonderful road to reading?! It all begins with one word, one sentence, one paragraph, one page! Then once I get you reading, I am going to have you writing too.”

Go to her website at www.beautyandthebook.com or www.pulpwoodqueen.com to find out more about this energetic speaker!!

This "Gathering of Authors" Event will be a memorable one.  From 2 - 8 pm you can come visit with the authors, get autographed books for you or your child and meet new people.  There will be food and drinks all day long for all who comeAdmission is free, but we would appreciate a donation for St. Jude if you can possibly give one.  That is one of the reasons for this event in the first place.  From bringing awareness to our Regional authors and authors from other areas, to supporting a wonderful Institution which does nothing but try to save children's lives, we want to make a difference.  Help us in making it a very successful day in literacy and in the amazing Charity we are there to back.
